Containers are placeables and items that can hold inventory. Typical examples of placeable containers include desks and chests; typical item containers include bags and boxes. Placeable containers can be locked or trapped. Item containers can reduce the weight of their contained items to varying degrees; see magic bag.

Module builder tips

• Lootable corpses are containers, and accumulating a large number of containers can adversely affect performance. Automatic disposal of corpses after a set time can offset this potential lag.
• In addition to fixed contents, placeable containers can be given random items. This is accomplished by scripting, such as the three loot systems from the official campaigns (each campaign used a different loot system).
